Finance Needs More Females
The “Lehman Sisters wouldn’t have failed” mantra is getting more airime…
MPs are signing up to the more ladies makes it better philosophy.
A Commons Treasury Committee report has found that the lack of diversity in the boardroom “may have…made effective challenge and scrutiny of executive decisions less effective”.
i.e. The lack of female oversight in the City could have made the financial crisis worse.
BBC: “We are not saying that had women been in charge the crisis wouldn’t have happened, but we are highlighting the fact that women are poorly represented in the financial sector, particularly at board level,” said the Committee’s chairman, John McFall.
So the City needs to start pulling up its stockings or “calls for compulsory measures may grow”.
