This will take the heat of bankers looking forward to receiving their bonuses in time to avoid the increase in the tax rate…
MPs have threatened to throw out a report into the expenses scandal by Sir Thomas Legg (appointed by the leaders of all three main political parties to review claims) who will send letters to all members today telling them how much he calculates they have overclaimed in the last five years.
Many MPs think that Sir Thomas has gone too far and re-written the rules effectively judging their claims rather than auditing them. John Bercow, the Commons Speaker, who chairs the estimates committee, has had to write to all MPs to urge them to co-operate fully.
Round 2 and it looks like it could be open season again on MPs.
What a relief.
