No reference to beer summit invitations. As Obama’s stock falls in the face of a crap economy and tough political headwinds at home so has the price of Egyptian dates named after him.

According to Breitbart Ramadan tradition dictates that Egypt’s fruit-sellers nickname their dates to reflect unofficial popularity ratings, but this year the global recession has forced down the price of the ‘Obama’.

The recession has seen the price of an Obama fall from 25 Egyptian pounds (around 4.5 dollars) a kilogram (2.2 pounds) to 15 pounds (2.7 dollars).

That’s a 40% drop – as keen observers of the date index Obama’s team will no doubt be hoping it’s not a sign of things to come.

We couldn’t find a reference to the Brown date – presumably the value dropped so much it was de-listed.
